Barley Porridge with Butter
Barley is among the most blessed grains in the Sunnah. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Talbina soothes the heart of the patient and makes it active, and relieves some of his sorrow and grief." — Sahih al-Bukhari 5417.

Ingredients
- 1 cup barley grains (pearl barley works best)
- 4 cups water
- 1–2 teaspoons butter
Method
Step 1 — Rinse the barley: Wash the barley under cold water. Step 2 — Cook the barley: In a pot, combine barley and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 30–40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until soft and porridge-like. Step 3 — Add butter: Stir in 1–2 teaspoons of butter while hot so it melts through. Step 4 — Serve: Enjoy warm.
