Al-Māʾidah (also known as Barakah Foods) is a health and nutrition tracking application. This policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding it.

2. Data we collect

• Account information: your email address, name, and password (stored securely as a hash).
• Health & nutrition data: age, weight, height, activity level, daily calorie and macro goals — only if you choose to enter them.
• Usage data: recipes you save, meals you log, fasting records, and group activity.
• Device data: push notification tokens if you opt in to notifications.

3. How we use your data

• To provide and personalise the app experience.
• To calculate nutritional goals and generate AI-powered meal suggestions.
• To send transactional emails (e.g. password reset links).
• To send push notifications about group activity (only if you opt in).

We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

4. Data sharing

• Neon (database hosting) — stores your data securely.
• OpenAI — recipe text generation. We send ingredient names and recipe preferences only.
• Replit — application hosting infrastructure.

5. Data retention

Your data is kept for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time.

6. Your rights

7. Cookies & storage

We use a session cookie to keep you logged in. No advertising or tracking cookies are used. We use browser local storage for theme preferences only.

8. Children

Al-Māʾidah is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
