The Rule of Thirds — Food, Water & Air
The Prophet (ﷺ) taught a timeless principle of moderation: divide the stomach into three equal portions. One third for food, one third for water or drink, and one third left empty for air and breathing. Eating small amounts and avoiding overfilling the stomach is central to Prophetic health guidance.
"A human being fills no worse vessel than his stomach. It is sufficient for a son of Adam to eat a few mouthfuls to keep his spine straight. But if he must eat more, then one third for food, one third for drink, and one third for air."
