The Prophet Never Ate Thinly Baked Wheat Bread

ʿĀʾishah (RA) bore witness that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) never — in his entire life — ate thinly baked, fine wheat bread (al-khubz al-ḥawwārāʾ). His diet was built on coarse barley bread, dates, water, and simple wholesome foods. The avoidance of refined, soft wheat bread was not poverty alone — it was a deliberate Prophetic model of restraint and gratitude. Ibn al-Qayyim noted that barley bread is more beneficial for digestion and purer in effect than fine wheat, which can produce heaviness and sluggishness in the body when eaten in excess.

"The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) never ate thinly baked wheat bread until he met Allah."
