Cleanliness & Hygiene

The Prophet (ﷺ) placed enormous emphasis on cleanliness — of the body, the mouth, the clothes, and the home. He declared that cleanliness is half of faith, elevating physical purity to a matter of iman. This encompasses wudu before prayer, washing the hands before and after eating, using the miswak, trimming the nails, removing body hair, and keeping one's living space clean. Ibn al-Qayyim wrote that a clean body is foundational to a clean heart — the two are inseparable in the Prophetic model of health.

"Cleanliness is half of faith."
